THE MEANING OF SALVATION
Prayer of Salvation
“Father, in Jesus Name,
I thank you now for another opportunity that you have allowed me to come before your presence.
I ask you now to forgive me of all of my sins. Forgive me for anything I’ve done or anything I have said that has brought shame to your Holy Name.
I confess with my mouth and I believe in my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead and He now lives in me.
Thank you Lord that I am saved, and I will serve you for the rest of my life.
In Jesus Name, Amen”
The Meaning of Salvation
Many Christians live frustrated and defeated lives because of a failure to understand Gods plan of salvation. A new or seasoned Christian needs to know without a doubt that he/she is saved.
What is the meaning of Conversion?
Simply put conversion means to turn around (change the direction one is going). Conversion is on the human side of the salvation experience.
Three Step Perspectives
Conviction: The first step in conversion. The salvation experience starts with conviction which is awareness of one’s sinful condition. It is remorseful (Acts 2:37). Conviction is brought about by the Holy Spirit (John 16:8). A person can remain under conviction for several days, even weeks.
Repentance: Basically means to change one’s mind. It involves sorrows for one’s sinful condition (Psalm 38:17-18). It must be voluntary, the exercise of one’s personal will. Repentance can be expressed verbally and emotionally. The requirement for repentance is seen in Acts 2:38.
Faith is trust: It is not the same as belief. Faith comes before belief. Faith eventuates into belief. At this step, a person is trusting in Christ that he can save him. Faith is absolutely necessary in the salvation experience…..”Without faith it is impossible to please Him (God) (Heb. 11:6).
The moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are declared righteous and justified by faith in the sight of God. We should not depend on our own feelings to determine our salvation instead we should trust the word of God.
